2025 Digital Forensics Workshop Series
On September 11 and 12, a new edition of the Digital Forensics Workshop Series took place in Montevideo, organized by Datasec and led by international expert Eng. Gustavo Presman. Over the course of two intensive days, participants worked on real-world cyber incident cases, exploring key methodologies and tools for conducting investigations with both technical precision and legal rigor. Topics covered included ransomware attacks, digital fraud, cloud-based evidence, and mobile device analysis. – Interpretation of technical reports (UFED). – Email analysis and ransomware investigation. – Handling digital evidence in cloud environments. – Use of forensic tools (both open-source and commercial). – Hands-on exercises in virtual machine environments. The workshop blended theory with practice, offering hands-on exercises that brought participants face-to-face with the complexities of real-world forensic analysis.
